Publishers and other organisations with similar or complementary aims and valuesVagabond Voices is a literary publisher with a cosmopolitan vocation. It is open to publishing novels and polemics across the political and philosophical spectrum, and could easily bring out pamphlets with opposing ideas. In fact, the idea of debate through pamphleteering, in which there is room for writers to develop more complex ideas, is a very attractive one. It does however have a leaning towards tolerance, dialogue, equality, non-violence and a belief in society and humanity, which are very probably things to which literature is drawn by its very nature. Literature is a form of storytelling that distinguishes itself by its ability to enter the mental processes of its characters and to assess and compare their validity. Reading, perhaps even more than writing, makes us more tolerant and so it could reasonably be argued that its demise would have the opposite effect. So this publisher joins the ranks of many others (even in these conformist times) who challenge the powerful and the ideas they peddle untiringly. Here are links to just a few of them:
