Ebooks: GUIDANCE

Downloading your ebooks

When you’ve bought an ebook, the file will be available for download on the Order Confirmation page and a download link will be sent to the email address used to make the purchase. This link will expire 24 hours after purchase, but clicking it will send another.

Your download includes two files, the book in ePub format (for all ebook readers except Kindle) and MOBI format (for Kindle readers).

If you have any download issues, get in touch through general enquiries.

Reading on Kindle devices: two ways

Using a USB cable: Connect the device to your computer and open the Kindle folder that appears. With the Kindle’s contents folder open, you can drag the downloaded MOBI file to this folder.

Through email: Files can be sent to your kindle using the email address attached to the device. This address can be found in Amazon’s ‘Manage your Content and Devices’ section. To transfer the file to the device wirelessly, send an email to the kindle address with the MOBI file attached.

If you want to read on your computer using the Kindle application, download the MOBI file and double-click/right-click to open the ebook automatically in the Kindle app. (You need to have the Kindle application installed first.)

Reading on other e-reader devices

For devices such as Nook and Kobo, download the ePub file to your computer. Connect the device using a USB cable and drag the file to the e-reader’s content folder.

Reading on Apple devices

The Books e-reader comes pre-installed on recent Apple devices. Download the ePub file and double-click/right-click to open it in the application automatically. You can share them with your other Apple devices by emailing the ePub file to yourself and opening it from the other device.

Reading on Windows computers

You will need to have an e-reader application installed on the device. With this downloaded, double-click/right-click the ePub file and it should automatically open in the application.

Reading on Android devices

You will need to have an e-reader application installed on the phone or tablet. Email the ePub file to yourself and open it from the device, it should open in the e-reader app.
